Off-the-Record is a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization dedicated to increasing awareness and broadening perspectives of foreign policy issues. Presenting renowned speakers from the worlds of government, politics, business, academia, journalism and the arts, OTR provides a lively forum for the discussion and understanding of America’s global role in a shifting world order. The OTR season runs September to May. Daytime lectures are scheduled from 1-2 pm at the New York City Bar at 42 West 44th Street. A lively question and answer period follows.

*OTR's expenses are set under annual contracts. As such, we are unable to refund any membership fees. 

 **The family membership is intended only for two members living in the same household. The family membership may not be used as a dual membership for members who do not share a residence or a last name. No exceptions.

 

LECTURE FORMAT

OTR holds 10 daytime lectures during the September-May season.

11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.
Registration. Lunch tables available. Coffee and tea available.

12:50 p.m.
Members and guests are seated.

1:00 p.m.
Lecture begins. Doors closed.

1:40 p.m. (approximately)
Q&A period. All attendees who cannot stay until 2:00pm are asked to leave at this point.

2:00 p.m.
Lecture ends.

Members are encouraged to participate not only during the Q&A, but also by evaluating speakers. In addition, members’ suggestions for both topics and speakers are welcome.


EVENING PATRON EVENTS

Four intimate evening lectures and receptions are scheduled throughout the season at varying venues including private clubs and diplomats' homes.

LUNCH
OTR does not provide a lunch at the Bar Association Building. Members are welcome to bring their own lunch to dine with other members in the Reception Hall. Coffee, tea, and water service will be available.

GUESTS
$25 per person at daytime lectures.

Members may bring guests, if space permits. Payment may be made when registering online for the event or on the day of the lecture. Guest fees for patron events may vary in price and must be paid upon registration.

VENUE
The 10 daytime lectures are held at 1:00pm at the New York City Bar Association, 42 West 44th Street, New York City.
