ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Jeremy Ben-Ami is the founder and president of J Street, a pro-Israel, pro-peace, pro-democracy organization that promotes US policies to secure the State of Israel as a democratic homeland for the Jewish people. The organization works toward a negotiated resolution agreed to by Israelis and Palestinians to meet the legitimate needs and national aspirations of both peoples. Ben Ami's family history with Israel goes back 130 years and his grandparents were among the founding families of Tel Aviv.
Before founding J Street in 2008, Ben-Ami worked on the Clinton campaign and served as the deputy domestic policy adviser in the Clinton White House. He left the Clinton administration in 1997 to start a consulting firm specializing in the nonprofit sector in Jerusalem. Following his return from Israel, he worked as the policy director for New York City Public Advocate, Mark Green, and later as Green's campaign manager in the 2001 mayoral election. He later served as national policy director for Howard Dean's presidential campaign in 2004.
Mr. Ben-Ami received a law degree from New York University and is a graduate of the School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University.
