Policies and Procedures

Registration:

Please register either online or through the office. Our lectures are generally at capacity and we rely on an accurate attendance count.

Lectures:

Check-in begins at 11:45 AM. Once you have your name tag, you are welcome to enter the lecture hall. You may save a seat for yourself and up to two additional people.

The door to the lecture hall closes promptly at 1 PM. To prevent disruption, there will be no admittance to the lecture after the door has closed until the Q&A begins. Those who wish to leave may do so then. Once the Q&A has begun, the door will remain closed until the Q&A is over. OTR members appreciate your cooperation with this procedure as it creates disturbances to others when members leave beforehand.

During Q&A, please make sure that you speak directly into the top of the microphone and please frame your thoughts as a brief question so that we can offer as many members as possible the opportunity to ask a question.

 Lectures adjourn at 2:00 PM.

All regular, daytime lectures take place at the following address:

The New York City Bar Association

42 West 44th Street (between 5th and 6th Avenues)

Reception Hall and Club Table:

Members may bring a lunch to be enjoyed in the Reception Hall prior to the lecture. Coffee and tea are served. No food or drink is allowed in the lecture hall.

All members are invited to join the OTR Club Table, hosted by one of OTR’s Governors for lunch and the opportunity to meet fellow members. The Club Table is open to all members, no reservation is needed. Please note that participants should bring their own meal.

Patron Luncheons:

A reminder: there is a $25 cancellation fee for luncheon no shows or cancellations less than 24 hours in advance. Patron members are entitled to an invitation to one pre-lecture luncheon. If you are unable to attend, we will do our best to accommodate you at a later date although there is no guarantee that we can do so.

Patron and Young/Junior Patron Events:

Dates and venues for Patron and Young/Junior Patron events will be announced during the season. Evening Patron  and Young/Junior Patron events are held at varying venues, including private clubs and diplomatic residences.

Guest Passes:

Members may bring guests, when space permits. Guest passes may be used only for regularly scheduled Wednesday lectures, when space allows, not at Patron evening events.

Please register all guests in advance of each event. Paid guests and guest pass users must provide their names and email addresses for registration. Guest fees for Patron events must be paid when registering.

Membership:

OTR memberships are non-refundable, non-transferable and we do not pro-rate memberships.
