The United States, Israel, and Iran: Where Do We Go From Here?
About the Topic
Relations between Israel and Iran have deteriorated significantly in the years since Israel’s founding, 61 years ago. Dr. Parsi, author of Treacherous Alliance: The Secret Dealings of Iran, Israel and the United States, delves into the relationship between these two major Middle East players, and each country’s relationships with the United States. Going beyond the religious and ideological elements that dominate the headlines, Dr. Parsi analyzes the strategic triangular relationship and behind-the-scenes maneuvers that fuel issues in the tense region. Dr. Parsi is the recipient of the Council on Foreign Relations' 2008 Arthur Ross Silver Medallion for Treacherous Alliance. He wrote his doctoral thesis on Israeli-Iranian relations under Professor Francis Fukuyama (and Drs. Zbigniew Brzezinski, R. K. Ramazani, Jakub Grygiel, Charles Doran) at Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies while heading the National Iranian American Council, the largest Iranian-American organization in the United States.
