About the Speaker

Zanny Minton Beddoes is editor-in-chief of The Economist, founded in 1843. Previously, she was business affairs editor, also including finance and science. She joined The Economist in 1994 as emerging-markets correspondent, traveling extensively in Latin America and Eastern Europe. She then moved to Washington, D.C. overseeing global economics coverage. Her earlier career was spent at the IMF, and as an adviser to Poland’s minister of finance. She has written frequently about international financial issues and has contributed often to news radio and TV networks, on BBC, PBS, NPR, CNN and CNBC. She holds degrees from Oxford University and Harvard University. She tweets @zannymb.
