Lawrence H. Summers is the Charles W. Eliot University Professor at Harvard University. He served as 27th president of Harvard University from July 2001 until June 2006. An eminent scholar and admired public servant, Dr. Summers has taught on the faculty of both Harvard and MIT.Dr Summers was secretary of the treasury in the Clinton administration (1999-2001). He has also served in a series of senior public policy positions, including political economist for the President’s Council of Economic Advisers, and chief economist of the World Bank,. In 1993 he received the John Bates Clark Medal, given every two years to the outstanding American economist under the age of 40. Dr. Summers received his B.S. from MIT and his Ph.D. in economics from Harvard.
